The key decision is the PRIVATE ONSEN FLOOR. Current official and tourism information confirms that Podo Hotel guest rooms use natural hot-spring water. That means the question is not “hot spring or no hot spring.” For a two-person stay, the real upgrade decision is whether you need the extra bedrooms, space, tub style and privacy of a higher room category.

Start with the benefit you already have

If your only reason for considering Podo is a private in-room hot spring, start with a Deluxe room. Do not give the Royal Suite credit for introducing a benefit that already exists lower in the room ladder.

Korean-style rooms can matter if you specifically value the hinoki bath and traditional layout. Western-style rooms solve a different preference. Keep hot-spring entitlement separate from tub material and room style.

When the Royal Suite begins to make sense

The upgrade becomes more defensible when three or four people genuinely need more sleeping zones, more bathroom capacity and a living area. The source describes the Royal Suite as a much larger product with two bedrooms and two bathrooms; that changes how a group uses the room rather than simply adding prestige.

The hotel needs time, not just money

Podo is a poor fit for an itinerary that leaves early every morning and returns late every night. Its architecture, grounds, quiet setting and in-room bathing only become valuable if you actually leave time for them.

This is especially important because the Andeok hillside location is not a “walk out for everything” city base. If you will repeatedly leave for meals or cross the island, the exit cost needs to be included in the room premium.

Do not compare room names without occupancy

Different Deluxe room types can carry different occupancy limits. Enter all adults and children before comparing prices. A room that looks cheaper for two guests is not a valid baseline for a larger group.

Final decision

Choose Podo more readily when you will arrive early enough to use the room, hot spring and quiet grounds, or when the Royal Suite solves a real multi-room problem. Reconsider it when the itinerary uses the hotel mainly as an expensive place to sleep.
